Language Biography Alfons Marco

In this post, I am going to talk about my language experience during my life. The first language that I learn was Valencian, because it is my mother tongue and both my father an my mother speak and taught to me.

My father grew up in La Pobla de Vallbona, and my mother grew up in Benaguasil. Both of these towns are very close each other and historically, in both of them nearly all the population speak and use Valencian in their daily life. They learned Spanish when they were in primary school. This fact has made me use Valencian every time I can and in every situation or context in which people can understand me. During my period in primary and secundary school, I alterned Spanish and Valencian and also had the first contact with the English as a language. In my opinion, the condition of being bilingual has helped me to learn other languages like English for example.

Apart from Valencian and Spanish, the other languages that I studied were English and French. I used to be keen on French because it was a language that I chose to study in the high school as optional and it was very similar to Valencian. When I finished my period in secondary school, I stop studying French, but I get the A2 certificate. One of my purposes for the future is to study French again. However, after years of preparation and efforts, I decided to study in order to get the certificates I wanted both in English and Valencian. The process in English was progressive, because I get all the levels: A2, B1, B2 and now I am trying the C1 level. In Valencian, I obtained first the C1, and then I decided to prepare myself to get the C2 level. Fortunately it all went well as I passed it.

In the future, as I have said, I hope to obtain the C1 level in English and I want to retake French because I have lost a lot since I don't use it. But, who cares about the future? the most important now is to live day by day and achieve the goals progressively.
